I had my first marketing experience for the Decennial ARTWALK in 2024!

Marketing Campaign

ARTWALK is an annual arts festival that celebrates the heritage of local neighbourhoods through murals, performances, and art-centred workshops. In 2024, the festival marked its tenth anniversary. Months before ARTWALK began, our marketing team met to brainstorm angles and plan the kinds of content we wanted to create. Each of us was tasked with developing an individual campaign for a specific event. With little marketing experience, I drew inspiration from the types of videos and formats I often saw online. My campaign ended up becoming one of the most-viewed pieces of content, reaching over 7,000 views—and it featured the mural-making process I filmed while assisting the artists on site. Opening Night

On the opening night of ARTWALK on 19 January 2024, the rain brought a few challenges, including power generator failures. Even with these setbacks, we kept the momentum going by directing the crowd toward the Damaru traditional Indian drumming performance. We explained the situation, reassured everyone, and helped maintain the energy of the event. Throughout the night, we also filmed marketing content and shared updates to keep the audience informed and engaged.

ARTWALK Week

Throughout ARTWALK, I mainly supported the artists with set-ups, filmed marketing content, and took on various ushering roles. A big part of the experience was learning to adapt quickly. During the closing Block Party, for instance, attendance was low, so we filmed volunteers enjoying the activities to help create a livelier atmosphere online and encourage more people to come down. Weather challenges like the rain also taught me how to keep morale high, by engaging the crowd, communicating openly on social media, and anticipating what audiences needed in the moment.​
