Academic Panel
I applied to be a speaker at the FITS Sibiu 2025 festival with my paper on "Connecting the Artist with the Audience: Insights
on Fostering Co-Creation at The Columns Gallery Singapore", and got accepted!
In Sibiu, I attended the academic panel called, 'The Art of Saying “Thank You”: Theatre and Cultural Diplomacy'. It brought together researchers and cultural professionals to discuss how theatre and performance can act as tools for cultural exchange, connection, and international dialogue.
The Festival
As participants of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), we had access to every show across the festival’s extensive programme, featuring performances from countries all over the world. Experiencing such a wide range of theatre was unforgettable, but what moved me most was watching how people on the streets would pause, sometimes just for a moment, sometimes for much longer, to engage with a performance or interact with an installation. Seeing art slip so naturally into everyday life, transforming ordinary spaces into shared moments of connection, was incredibly inspiring and reminded me why I love the arts so deeply.

Cultural Exchange
Alongside experiencing the performances, I also had the incredible opportunity to meet and exchange with performers and volunteers from all over the world. These conversations became some of the most meaningful moments of the trip, hearing them speak about their craft, motivations, and the cultural contexts they come from offered insights I wouldn’t have gained otherwise, and made the entire festival experience even richer and more personal.

This exchange gave me a rare chance to experience different cultures and art forms firsthand, while pushing myself to connect with people I otherwise would have never met.

A theatre performance called Faust, directed by Silviu Purcăre. My favourite show of the trip.
